It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a compliment to the bowlers that have represented Australia over five decades.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if not afforded the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to create her most recent brilliance.

That loss "drove us to reevaluate our levels," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

If this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for the pressure of a final. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it was a disappointing period because it seemed I lacked timing at all," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and after that the right-hander was in motion.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

When she was dismissed the team needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if we do, we know we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those physical issues have delayed thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
